Concert Today, Master Chorale of CT

I attended a concert today by the Master Chorale at St. Rose of Lima Church in Newtown, CT.  The music performed was The Peacemakers by Karl Jenkins.  My choir director Joe Jachovino is the pianist.  While I was waiting, I wrote this poem.

Chatter of voices
Bing bongs of the drums
Horns deeply are singing
Their Lying low song

Tingles of chimes
Flutes flutter and hang
Bass notes bounce deeply
Jumping here, bouncing there

Voices rise louder
Anticipation is clear
Of music
Live music
Alive in the air

Feeding the soul
Filling halls and hearts
Nothing compares
To this beautiful, healing form of art.

The concert before the concert
Musicians lighten their tones
Slowly coming to halt
Quieting sounds on their own.

Voices come to the stage
Voices high, voices low
Nameless faces of song
All are ready to go

Silence
awaiting the conductor
Leading chaos to song
Into one voice
She’ll resemble a general
“Charge! Here we go!”

Orchestra calls her
She arrives, strong and fresh
Raising her arms
And I hold my breath.

From the first note that’s played
The world will not spin
Consumed by the beauty
Bestowed us by Him

I cherish these times
When I can be so pure
Just take in the wonderment
Music restores

About goplayintraffic

My Blog, which began as a mommy blog and turned into a writing website, www.write2survive.com, is the product of my years of being home with my children and trying to find ways to keep myself sane. I have always had this feeling, coming from a single mother, that I have to contribute financially and that I have to be able to take care of myself and my children. having been married, being a NYC school teacher, having four children, living in Newtown, CT and trying to find a way to get through each day with a smile has always been something I've strived for. My stories, articles and poems will do a lot of things but mostly make you feel. I think that is what is so wonderful about having the ability to write. I have been given the gift of taking my emotions and transferring them to written word. Once that is done, I can share those words with others who may feel better, maybe just for a moment, but better nonetheless having read my words. I am glad you are here and hope you will stay:)
