He Saved Me Again

I wrote this poem after hearing
Fr. Bob’s Homily at confirmation this weekend. He’s a beacon to all of us in Newtown.

He Saved Me….Again

Into the abyss we awoke
Blind
Frightened
Wandering
In darkness
Young and old
Seeing nothing
Hearing whispers
Hushed and broken
Tormented
Suspended in
evil

That’s it!
It’s evil!
Evil has come to us.
We who believe
We who’ve always looked up
We who’ve always prayed

Struggling
I feel my way
I strain to the catch a glimpse
Of something

Nothing

I continue to pursue
I persevere
I know it’s not just me
It can’t just be me

I feel the others
I feel their presence
Evil is the veil
We are wrapped within

Keep moving
Keep moving
Keep moving

Light in the darkness
The dimmest of lights
A speck
A glimmer
I dare say
A light

I see you

Hey, I see you

Reaching
Arms outstretched
Move quickly
I’ve got you
A hand
I grab a hand

You’re here!

Grasping a hand
I’m not alone
We move
We persevere
Another hand
And then another
And then another

I am not alone
You are here
We are here
Together
We look up

Light
Bright, brilliant light
Streaming through
This veil of evil
That had taken over
One hand in another hand
And another,
That’s it!

We see.
We can see.
Each other
Frightened
Confused

Together

Faces
I know you
You know me
We are we

Together

We are ascending from the evil
That has overtaken
Our minds
Our spirits
Our souls

He is here
He is above us
Below us
All around us

He’s come for us
We let Him in
We called for Him
We screamed for Him
He has come

He never left

Eyes wide open
Eyes….wide…..open…..

We knew
We persevered
We waited
We held onto to each other
In the darkness

We trusted each other
In the fear

We redeemed each other
With trust

He has saved us

Again

About goplayintraffic

My Blog, which began as a mommy blog and turned into a writing website, www.write2survive.com, is the product of my years of being home with my children and trying to find ways to keep myself sane. I have always had this feeling, coming from a single mother, that I have to contribute financially and that I have to be able to take care of myself and my children. having been married, being a NYC school teacher, having four children, living in Newtown, CT and trying to find a way to get through each day with a smile has always been something I've strived for. My stories, articles and poems will do a lot of things but mostly make you feel. I think that is what is so wonderful about having the ability to write. I have been given the gift of taking my emotions and transferring them to written word. Once that is done, I can share those words with others who may feel better, maybe just for a moment, but better nonetheless having read my words. I am glad you are here and hope you will stay:)
