Perhaps the question should be – why not self-publish?
Times are changing in the publishing world and we, as writers, have to change with it. I have tried the traditional route of sending a manuscript to a publisher (several actually) with no joy. Sometimes the manuscript would come back with a few words of wisdom but usually it was returned with a standard letter saying they weren’t interested. Once only half the manuscript was returned with a note saying they couldn’t get it into the envelope which was odd because I managed it. Sometimes they didn’t bother to reply or return the work…I wonder what happened to the stamps I’d attached.
Every manuscript had to be posted with a return envelope with the correct postage in stamps on it. In those days you could only approach one publisher or agent at a time and you had to wait, sometimes…
