The Gift of Knowing, Part 7

Time was of the essence
She would now
bestow her presence
On her beloved
waiting anxiously

Slowly first, then quickly
Making haste
as she was needed
Her heart beating
As a moment longer
Would cause it to burst

Running till she reached him
Her beloved in his grieving
Her shoulder the perfect pillow
For his head

Slowing down her pace
She would force
her smile to fade
For this greeting
may not be
what he’d expect

Onto cobble stone
Pausing now upon his home
Faintly knocking,
just a tap upon his door

Slowly he appeared
Her beloved, red from tears
She would coax him to invite her
As so he did

His words were dim but clear
“I don’t know what happened here.
She had scarcely left the walk
To meet her end.”

“Oh my love you need not grieve.
I am here, and all you need.
I the one who prove’s her love
forever more.”

“Lay down now and rest your head,
You are weary, filled with dread.
I shall help you, ease your pain
As is my wish.”

These her words to him,
She who saved him from the vixen
who, the very night before
Did cast her spell

Then she heard the words she longed for
“Stay with me as I am lonesome”
And at that, she knew he loved her,
Ever more

Their bodies barely meeting
Electricity was seething as she
Carefully caressed him head to toe

Gentle movements joined their union
There was now a bind between them
As she sang her love the gentlest of songs.

“Drift now for you are safe,
I will praise you, filled with grace
Which no other dare to covet
We are bound.

For when you are in harm
Never cause to feel alarmed
I am here and none but death
Can break these vows.”

And with that she lay beside him
Her heart on fire with desire
This man she knew,
would keep her by his side

Silently in darkness
His eyes closed, but ears regarding
Whispered words
A devil sitting in his midst

Greeting her in weakness
Allowing bitter sweetness
It was she who caused his love
To fall too soon

In desperation to escape her
Clearly madness was the danger
He would lay there till the sunlight
Breached the sky

Then he’d deal with her and swiftly
As her madness was increasing.
But how would he avenge
And live to tell?

His intentions he would hide
As the spawn of Satan lay
As his plan would cause the end
Of she who dwells

About goplayintraffic

My Blog, which began as a mommy blog and turned into a writing website,, is the product of my years of being home with my children and trying to find ways to keep myself sane. I have always had this feeling, coming from a single mother, that I have to contribute financially and that I have to be able to take care of myself and my children. having been married, being a NYC school teacher, having four children, living in Newtown, CT and trying to find a way to get through each day with a smile has always been something I've strived for. My stories, articles and poems will do a lot of things but mostly make you feel. I think that is what is so wonderful about having the ability to write. I have been given the gift of taking my emotions and transferring them to written word. Once that is done, I can share those words with others who may feel better, maybe just for a moment, but better nonetheless having read my words. I am glad you are here and hope you will stay:)
